New content since the last What We’ve Been Following newsletter from February 13th.
(Podcast) Michael chatted with Sara Mauskopf (Co-founder and CEO of Winnie). Winnie is a marketplace and social platform for child care.
(Clubhouse) Roshan hosted our first Clubhouse room which was with Pasha Rayan (Co-founder and CTO of The Forage). The Forage partners with leading companies to create free open-access training courses for candidates to build career skills & confidence. The Clubhouse conversation focused on Pasha’s experience going through Y Combinator. Thanks to everyone who joined, and look out for more Clubhouse events from us in the near future.
What We’ve Been Following
(App Spotlight) I recently chatted with the founder of Schmooze. Schmooze is a dating App based on Memes, and it matches people based on their taste in Memes. I think it’s a really cool product and love what they’re building, be sure to download the app and check them out.
(App Spotlight) My friend and I spent a while playing around on Sonar a few days ago and had a lot of fun. In Sonar you can “walk” around and talk, listen to music, and play games with friends or anyone online.
(Book) I’ve gotten about halfway through The Almanack of Naval Ravikant. As a long time fan of Naval’s teachings, it was awesome to see all his wisdom compiled in a nice, visually-appealing manner by Eric Jorgenson.
(Book) This semester, I’m taking a course on Positive Psychology, and the “textbook” (I put that in quotes because it’s in paperback and very easy to read) has become something I read for pleasure. Many college students desire to be happy, and Happiness 101 by Tim Bono contains many tools and strategies for living a happier life.
(Podcast) The All-In Podcast with David Sacks, Chamath Palihapitiya, Jason Calacanis, and David Freidberg has quickly become my favorite podcast (you may have noticed from other WWBF’s that this is a theme at The Takeoff). As one of my friends put it, “the conversations are just so intellectual, it’s great.” This most recent podcast discussing the San Francisco DA and the Facebook/Google situation in Australia was amazing, but highly recommend all podcasts in the series.
(Podcast) Our team consumed a bunch of a16z podcasts over the past few weeks…
(Video) I was recently interested in learning more about Quantum Computing and got a chance to re-watch this great video from Kursgesagt explaining how Quantum Computing works in very simple terms.
(Article) The Clubhouse App and the Rise of Oral Psychodynamics.
(Article/News) The legendary duo Daft Punk has broken up after 28 years.
This made me laugh
This is pretty wild…
An interesting fact from Match Group via Turner Novak
I’m personally a huge Snapchat bull… Snapchat to the moon 📈📈📈
